Finding Him: Online Dating Series

Hi, I like your profile!

The heading was my first message when I seen a profile that I liked. Online dating can be scary. With all that could potentially go wrong and the horror stories that you hear in the news. Online dating should be done with caution as well as keeping an open mind. With these two things it can be a great experience. I must say, I enjoyed my online dating experiences. Through this journey to finding love I met some genuinely nice people, created memories, and learned it was ok to do me.

I was surprised when looking into the dating sites and seen there were so many out there! There was eHarmony, Match.com, Plenty of Fish (POF), Badoo, just to name a few. How would I figure out which site was the best fit for me? Do I join multiple sites or stick to one? Do I go with a site that required payment or choose one that was for free?

Decision Made

The first site I decided to sign up on was POF. Being a free site I thought it was a great place to start before investing a lot of my time and money. When I signed up it wasn’t as myself nor did I post a picture. Feeling a little embarrassed, I wanted to scout the site out first to see if this dating process was for me and to see if I recognized anyone. Surprisingly my first match was my ex-husband! I was like WTF!!  Been there, done that with no plans of going backwards! It was a real LOL moment. Things could only get better for me after that, so I skipped this match and kept searching.

Taking my time and going slowly, things started progressing and I started to enjoy the process. Being behind a computer screen and scrolling through profiles of men I started to feel excited and hopeful. I felt in control. It was like a catalogue of men at my fingertips that I could just browse at my leisure, in my own time and just pick one or several to chat with. The prospect of finding someone that I could have a relationship with felt promising.

Have I find my Prince? How many frogs did I kiss? Join me as I share my online dating experiences with you and please let me know your thoughts, your story and if you found the One. Everyone has a story. What’s yours?
